Why a Combination of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy is More Powerful for Anger Management
You may have tried a few different methods by now, yet they seem to have only touched the surface and dealt with the symptoms of your explosive behaviour. In my approach, I do not just do relaxation work. Together we will identify your unconscious patterns that lead to anger outbursts and address them, so the triggers have no control over you anymore. You will learn how to healthily experience anger and not cause damage to yourself and those around you, whether physical or emotional.
Through a powerful combination of Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnosis, you can learn how to regain control of your life. This approach is one of the most effective and fast-acting solutions available.
Strategic Psychotherapy is a brief, solution-focused therapy that zeroes in on how you experience anger, not why. I won’t be digging into your past or searching for reasons like a difficult childhood. Instead, we’ll focus on uncovering and dismantling the unconscious patterns you’ve developed that allow your anger to manifest in damaging outbursts.
By integrating Clinical Hypnotherapy, we can fast-track the process. Hypnotherapy enables you to rewire your neural pathways and reframe these thought patterns that are no longer serving you. It equips you with the tools you need to healthily face life challenges, without losing control over your reactions.
Where useful, I may also use Multichannel Eye Movement Integration to desensitise any past experiences that fuel your anger explosions today (like trauma & stressful events). All, to enable you to experience a long-lasting change.
Don’t spend another day in battle, wondering what your life could be like if you managed to experience anger in a healthy way? Let me help you experience it for yourself now.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure yet? Here are the answers to some common questions
Strategic psychotherapy is a short-term, solution-focused approach that emphasizes how you respond to challenges rather than digging into why they started. Instead of exploring past experiences like a difficult childhood, I focus on identifying and addressing the core patterns you’ve unconsciously developed that are keeping the problem in place.
By integrating hypnotherapy, we can accelerate your progress. The hypnotic state helps you more easily identify and change thought patterns and behaviors that no longer serve you, allowing you to experience relief more quickly.
This method is ideal for those looking for fast results or those who feel stuck with traditional therapy approaches.
Most hypnosis relies on guided visualizations, like picturing a calm ocean or peaceful forest. While this can be relaxing and offer temporary relief, it doesn’t tackle the root cause of your issue or teach you new skills. Similarly, “one-size-fits-all” hypnosis scripts often overlook your unique needs and circumstances.
Strategic Hypnotherapy, however, is different. It targets the core patterns behind your problem and tailors each session to your specific situation, making the approach far more effective for long-term change.
Traditional or authoritarian hypnosis often relied on rigid scripts and instructions, sometimes involving techniques like hand levitation or exercises that built resistance.
In contrast, I use a modern neo-Ericksonian approach to hypnosis, which is much more flexible. Instead of telling you what to do, I present options, allowing you to choose what feels right for you. With no pressure or resistance, there’s no concern about whether you can be hypnotized—everyone can experience hypnosis. While the depth of trance may vary between individuals, effective therapy is not dependent on how deep your trance is.
However, I will not conduct a session if you’re under the influence of substances like alcohol or drugs that alter your perception.
Hypnosis is similar to guided meditation, but it goes beyond just relaxation and inner peace. During hypnosis, your brain enters a unique state that’s different from normal waking, sleeping, or meditative states. It’s closer to the alpha brainwave state, where physical and mental relaxation meet heightened mental clarity and an increased awareness of your surroundings.
Clinical hypnotherapy is a well-researched and proven method for addressing a wide range of mental and emotional challenges. By helping to reprogram your cognitive patterns, it allows you to regain control over your thoughts and emotions more effectively.
Hypnosis is a completely safe and natural state of mind—one you’ve likely experienced many times before. Think of moments when you’ve driven somewhere and can’t recall parts of the journey, or when you’re absorbed in a movie, or drifting off to sleep. These are all similar states.
There are some common myths about hypnosis, such as it being a form of mind control, or requiring a deep trance from which you might not wake up. None of these are true. You remain fully conscious and aware of everything I say. I can’t implant ideas against your will, and you don’t fall asleep. If you start to feel too relaxed and drowsy, I’ll gently bring your awareness back so you can fully engage with the session.
No, hypnosis in a therapeutic setting does not involve losing control. The misconception that a hypnotist can control a person’s thoughts or actions often comes from TV shows and stage performances. In those settings, participants are carefully chosen based on their willingness to engage and their comfort with being the center of attention.
In therapy, hypnosis is simply a guided form of deep relaxation that enhances the effectiveness of the treatment. You remain completely in control at all times. In fact, during a session, you’re free to ignore suggestions or even leave the room if you wish.
Clinical hypnotherapy is designed to empower and support clients, not control them. Rest assured, you are always in safe, professional hands when you choose to work with me.
Everyone experiences hypnosis in their own unique way, and there’s no right or wrong way to go through it. When in a trance-like state, many people feel deeply relaxed mentally, physically, and emotionally. This in itself is a highly healing state. Dr. Milton Erickson, a renowned American hypnotherapist, described clinical hypnosis as “a free period in which individuality can flourish.”
During hypnosis, you may notice heightened awareness, a sense of deep relaxation, or even a dreamy feeling (though you are not asleep). Some people experience a sensation of heaviness, while others may find their mind wandering, with my voice fading into the background—all of which are normal signs of being in a trance.
In this state, the conscious mind—the busy, critical part—takes a break, allowing you to tap into your inner wisdom and subconscious resources.
Hypnotherapy uses suggestions and metaphors as a guide. I offer possibilities, and you decide what’s useful for you. I can’t force anything into your mind; think of me as a navigator, helping you along your journey.
The goal of the first session is to uncover the root cause of the issue. For example, you might seek help for excessive alcohol consumption, but during our initial conversation, it may become clear that this is a coping mechanism for something deeper, such as anxiety. In that case, we’ll focus on addressing the anxiety first, which often resolves the secondary issue as well.
We’ll review your intake form, discuss your medical history, lifestyle, and other factors. I’ll ask questions to identify the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Based on this, I’ll propose a treatment plan—how we can bridge that gap. The therapy I offer isn’t just about temporary relief; it’s about building a solid, lasting foundation that equips you to handle challenges even after therapy has ended.
During the very first session, I’ll provide psychotherapy and perform hypnosis so you can start seeing improvements from day one. Plus, your hypnosis session will be recorded for you to listen to between appointments, reinforcing the work we’ve done.
There’s very little preparation required for your session. It’s best to avoid coffee, energy drinks, or anything that might make it harder for you to relax for a few hours beforehand.
You’ll also need to arrive sober and free from any substances that could affect your focus or cognition.
For online sessions, make sure you’re in a space where you won’t be interrupted by family members or pets. Complete silence isn’t necessary, but it’s important that no one enters the room or tries to contact you during the session.
The versatility of Strategic Psychotherapy combined with Clinical Hypnotherapy makes it highly effective for addressing a wide range of psychological challenges.
A growing body of research shows that integrating hypnosis into therapy significantly enhances outcomes. This approach goes beyond traditional treatment methods, offering a holistic solution for various conditions.
Some areas where Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy can deliver lasting, positive results include: addictions, alcoholism, anger, anxiety, burnout, confidence issues, depression, exam nerves and performance, gambling, grief, guilt, habit control, IBS, letting go, nail biting, OCD, panic attacks, personal growth, phobias, PTSD, procrastination, public speaking, relationship challenges, relaxation, smoking cessation, vaping cessation, stress relief, and trauma recovery.
Traditional talk therapies certainly have their value, but many people want immediate change. You don’t want to spend months analyzing unchangeable past events and current issues.
With Strategic Psychotherapy, I won’t focus on your past to find “reasons” for your behaviors (like a difficult childhood). Instead, I examine the mental framework you’ve developed over time—your thinking patterns that create and perpetuate your problems.
You may consciously recognize that habits like anxiety-driven drinking, smoking, or PTSD aren’t helpful, yet feel unable to break free. My approach uncovers the core elements of these issues and targets them directly. These sessions are solution-oriented and designed to equip you with new skills and thought patterns for lasting change. The integration of hypnosis accelerates the process by accessing your unconscious mind, where the real issues lie.
Hypnotherapy in Australia operates as a self-regulated industry, and currently, there are no legal requirements for hypnotherapists to adhere to specific training standards. As a result, many poorly trained and unqualified practitioners, who may have obtained their certification from a brief three-day course, claim to offer hypnotherapy.
This situation can make it challenging for individuals to select a suitable hypnotherapist from the numerous advertisements in their area. It’s essential to choose a therapist who is qualified to address your mental health concerns outside of hypnosis first—such as a psychotherapist or psychologist. Without this foundational training, hypnosis sessions may be pleasant and relaxing, but they often lack the effectiveness needed to produce lasting change.
Keep in mind that hypnosis is merely a tool; the effectiveness of the therapy depends on how it is applied.
Professional associations, like the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia, are responsible for establishing industry standards. These standards include minimum training requirements, a strict code of ethics, professional supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Hypnotherapists who are not affiliated with recognized professional associations may lack sufficient training. For a list of accredited hypnotherapists, you can visit the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia’s website at https://hypnotherapycouncilofaustralia.com.
The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your individual requirements. Typically, it’s recommended to have between 4 to 6 sessions in total. We’ll establish your treatment plan during our first session and reassess it in each follow-up.
The goal is for you to do better in life, not just to feel better. You’ll likely notice improvements after the very first session, and if you follow my guidance between sessions, you may be surprised by how much progress you can make in a short period.
Currently, clinical hypnotherapy is not covered by Medicare. However, some private health insurance funds offer partial refunds based on your level of coverage. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance provider to see if you’re eligible for any reimbursement.

If you are still on the fence, factor in how the cost of therapy outweighs the cost of maintaining the problem. How much do opportunities missed due to anxiety cost, how much do you pay for cigarettes, alcohol, retail “therapy” or other costly compensatory behaviours… not to mention mental health cost, relationship costs etc… Then the value of effective therapy becomes evident.
